MiCRET: Developing Microcredentials to Strengthen the Skills of Renewable Energy Technicians and Support Lifelong Learning in the Energy Sector

PPC Inspectra participates in the European research project MiCRET (Microcredentials for Renewable Energy Technicians), contributing actively to the strengthening of the workforce in the renewable energy sector through the creation of a unified European framework for microcredentials.

Within the project, the training and upskilling needs of existing and new personnel in the RES sector are being mapped, while skill certification systems are developed through the use of microcredentials.

PPC Inspectra’s participation leveraging its expertise as a certification body for individuals’ competencies ensures that the training programmes developed will respond to current market needs, comply with strict quality standards, and provide tangible value to learners.

As a subsidiary of the PPC Group, PPC Inspectra has an in-depth understanding of the challenges of the energy transition and actively promotes microcredentials as a modern tool for lifelong learning.

Through this participation, the PPC Group’s strategy for a just and green transition is supported by increasing the share of renewable energy generation and promoting initiatives with strong social impact.

MiCRET: Microcredentials for Renewable Energy Technicians

The MiCRET project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and runs for three years (2025–2028).

It is coordinated by LEARNINGDIGITAL, with a consortium of 16 partners from six European countries, including public bodies, educational institutions, vocational training providers, certification organizations, and experts in microcredentials.

The project aims to develop, pilot, and evaluate a comprehensive framework for microcredentials, proposing ways to integrate them into national vocational education and training systems. Its ultimate goal is to meet the growing demand for skills in key areas driving the green and digital transitions.

Within the project, training programmes will be developed in critical skills for the renewable energy sector, along with common quality and certification standards aligned with formal education systems.

The microcredentials awarded will be recognized across Europe, offering real added value to learners’ professional development.

MiCRET is aligned with the Council Recommendation of 16 June 2022 on a European approach to microcredentials, promoting high-quality lifelong learning, inclusion, and equal access to the labour market.
